You and your role

As a passionate and committed Designer, you’ll be a valuable member of the creative team working across a range of accounts and projects. You’ll help us to deliver and implement high quality design solutions for a wide range of creative expressions, including brand framework, design, digital design, motion and more. 

You’ll work across a wide range of creative tasks and projects. Some of those will have fixed client objectives and firm deliverables, while others will require you to be more flexible, experimenting with different styles and approaches. It’s essential you have both the flexibility and skill to recognise and understand the different expectations of each project. Demonstrating an exceptional level creativity and craft with a strong desire to learn and grow. 

As someone with a self-starter attitude you’ll be a naturally curious and hands-on creative. Craving inspiration and different perspectives. You’ll have an insatiable desire to observe, listen and learn from those around you. You’ll bring new ideas, techniques and trends to the table – progressively setting the bar higher for our work. 

Key to your role will be your absolute eye for the detail and a drive for exceptional quality when it comes to your own creative outputs as well as those from your peers on a project. This stage of your career will be focused on honing your craft, developing the different visual and executional skills to deliver impeccable creative solutions for our clients. 

You’ll take direction from your core team as part of a large-scale project, as well as running your own smaller ones. With this comes a greater responsibility, the skill to collaborate and manage your own time, and an ambition to achieve and maintain the highest standards for the creative team and wider business.

Your primary responsibilities

Leadership and management

  • Be a key team player through all project phases from concept through to the final handover of files and guidelines (brand and/or digital) 
  • Support and work with other members of the creative and project team to help deliver to successful outcomes
  • Contribute ideas, set up and run, and regularly attend events and initiatives that inspire our team and colleagues
  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help develop the skills of the whole creative team
  • Take part in reviews and objectives setting for the junior members of the creative team
  • Be a present and positive addition to the collaborative culture within the agency – working with other departments and disciplines 

Creative direction and vision

  • Be a hands-on, motivated and ambitious creative, producing quality craft and an unwavering eye for detail  
  • Show an impressive conceptual outlook, thinking both literally and laterally to produce original and transformative ideas, push creative boundaries and challenge the status-quo
  • Continuously develop your ideas in order to evolve your layout and typographic skills through independent thinking, initiative and proactivite
  • Be a natural problem solver, drawing on past experiences to solve issues and challenges in creative briefs
  • Interpret, develop and evolve conceptual ideas and/or territories in line with the creative brief, clients’ objectives and the creative vision set by the CD/DD throughout a project
  • Be accurate and precise with exceptional attention to detail and the quality of deliverables – meeting deadlines in a sometimes-high-pressured environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding and ability to create, develop and deliver brands that live and breathe through different applications, channels and customer touchpoints (digital, social, print, campaign, radio, voice etc.
  • Show a confident approach to understanding our work in the form of motion and movement within the context of creating a strong narratives and storyboards. Contributing overall to the production of animation and sound sequences – bringing brands to life in motion
  • Growing ability to interpret and contribute to language ideas and approaches, tone of voice, messaging structures and principle
  • Communicate clearly and precisely the thinking behind your creative work
  • Show confidence with your presentation and storytelling

Operational and commercial

  • Having a diligent approach to general housekeeping, filing of work, essential information and time management
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with the Delivery and CS teams throughout a project – providing clear progress and status updates to mitigate risks and delays for the design team
  • Recognise and implement the practice of delivering ideas and concepts efficiently and effectively, drawing on the strength of tried-and-tested techniques and approaches when appropriate 
  • Understand and work to our ‘ways of working’ framework, approach and delivery processes
  • Ensure utilisation targets are met and timesheets are accurate and completed on time

Your skills and experience

As a Designer, you will have specialized digital design with experience and an interest in creating brands and working alongside brand designers.

Your experience should include:

  • Show a strong understanding of innovative and best practice digital work, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, playing a key role in delivering exceptional digital solutions for our clients
  • Understand and contribute to translating our clients’ brands (existing and new) into digital experiences with a full understanding of designing across a variety of viewports, technologies and touchpoints 
  • Be passionate about creating experiences that are driven by how and why people use products and interact with experience
  • Understand the role of wireframes and confidently design against them – working closely with the UX team to scamp, ideate and create the end experience
  • Develop a strong understanding and experience of various practices to deliver digital solutions, adapting their approaches to our clients’ needs (e.g. Design Systems, Atomic Design) and the Rufus technology offer (RL Zepp UI Framework, CMS solutions)
  • An understanding of current branding trends, both offline and online
  • Contribute to the creation and development of brand assets, guiding principles, best practice communications and templates – all stress-tested across the relevant channels
  • Work with the DD and / or CD in meeting third party suppliers and partners on a regular basis, e.g technology and innovation partners, editors and animators, photographers, illustrators and typographers

Applications and Software 

Essential:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative programs (Photoshop; Illustrator; InDesign)
  • Master of Sketch and/or Adobe XD and/or Figma
  • Familiarity with prototyping tools such as InVision, Marvel and Principle
  • Familiarity and understanding of best practice user experience and accessibility standards
  • Strong working knowledge of word-processing (Microsoft Office) and presentation software including Keynote and Microsoft PowerPoint

Not essential but an advantage:

  • Experience in video production and motion design, especially After Effects and Premier Pro
  • An understanding of HTML and CSS
